Every structure at Gateway to the Arctic Camp has been built by teams of hard-working and skilled volunteers. As a result, our volunteers and employees have had plenty of opportunities to build up their construction skills. In the summer of 2018, volunteers and members of our inclusive employment program worked together to convert “Ted’s Shed” into a home. They learned how to put up drywall, mud, and sand. Now, the building is a finished group home that’s ready to live in!
In April of 2019, 20 volunteers of with a variety of levels of experience came together to build the camp’s barn. It will serve as a storage space, a workshop, and even a screening area in the loft! Whether you come to Gateway to the Arctic Camp with a day or experience or decades, everyone has the opportunity to help build the camp.
